Gold  is a chemical element with the symbol Au  and an atomic number of 79. Gold is a dense, soft, shiny metal with   a bright yellow color and luster traditionally considered attractive  Gold is also the most malleable and ductile metal knownin the earth .Talking chemically, gold is a transition metal and a group 11 element.It has been a valuable and highly sought-after precious metal for making coins,  making of different types of jewelry, and also used in different other arts since long time ago.

Because of the softness of pure  gold (24kt gold), it is usually alloyed with base metals for use in jewelry, altering its hardness and ductility, melting point, color and other properties.But more than in scientific use gold is used in basic purpose..i.e.home purpose like making ornaments and jewels and rarely in decorations of pots.It is said that gold was used in making of coins in ancient times.
